Mayo Professor in Family and Child Welfare and deputy director of the Begun Center for Violence Prevention Research and Education, was elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare, an honorific society of distinguished scholars and practitioners dedicated to achieving excellence in the field of social work and social welfare through high-impact work that advances social good.

Dr. Singer joins Mandel School colleagues Dr. David E. Biegel​ and Dr. Claudia J. Coulton in the Academy.

​”To be selected one must be a distinguished scholar whose work is recognized as having had a significant impact,” notes Grover C. Gilmore, PhD, Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Dean in Applied Social Sciences. “It is a rigorous process of nomination and selection.”

Dr. Singer was inducted at a ceremony for new fellows at the annual meeting of the Council on Social Work Education in Tampa, Florida, on October 25, 2014.
