The Mandel Council coordinates student
activities at MSASS. The Mandel Council, made up of elected officers and the leaders of the
Student Groups, provides recognition and funding for the Student Groups, coordinates student
activities, and ensures student representation on the faculty and other MSASS committees.
Our purpose is to promote and preserve the educational, professional, and social interests of
the students of the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences. We value leadership as an
essential component of effective social work practice and strive to provide opportunities for
leadership development on campus and in the community. As a representative and governing body
of the students, we seek to ensure progressive relationships with the administration, faculty, and
staff of the college.
The Mandel Council welcomes all students of MSASS who adhere to our high standard of academic
integrity and scientific excellence, the ethical code of the National Association of Social
Workers, and the mission and objectives of the Mandel Council.
Our Mission
The Mandel Council for Student Community Leadership strives to enhance social welfare and
alleviate social problems through leadership in social policy advocacy, scientific inquiry, and
excellence in social work practice.
