The Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences (MSASS) offers various overseas short-term
undergraduate and graduate 3 credit elective courses throughout the year. They take place during
Winter, Spring and Summer Breaks. Each one is an exciting opportunity to see and learn about
another part of the world.
MSASS Travel/Study "Award Winning" Courses invite all undergraduate and graduate
students. Alumni and friends are also invited on many programs. We are currently seeking CEU
program approval. Courses are experiential and multi-sensory, taking students out of the classroom
setting and into the field. Courses require spring registration, no prerequisites or language
required and financial aid is available. Contact Nancy Issa,
nancy.issa@case.edu, at the financial aid office
about adjusting your loans to help defray cost of travel abroad
These opportunities offer global learning in the understanding of how culture, values and
history influence how societies address social issues. Each course provides a chance to meet with
leading scholars, policy makers, health-care providers, practitioners, clients and students from
another country. Participants are able to compare policies & services as a way to understand
their own system better & to learn alternative approaches to address social issues. They are
also able to experience a culture different from their own as a way to promote personal growth,
enhance cultural sensitivity, and expand their world views.
