  • Program fee for the Kenya Immersion Experience is approximately $1,800 plus airfare. 
  • Program fee includes accommodations, meals, a tax deductible contribution to the programs and projects you visit, and more.

Friday, Depart Cleveland, Ohio (normally travel through Amsterdam)

Saturday,
  • Evening arrival at Nairobi Airport
  • Greeting by IPM Regional Coordinator, Esther Gathiri
  • Airport transfer from JKIA to Rosa Mystica Guest House
  • Orientation by Sonya Dias & Esther Gathiri
  • Dinner & bed at Rosa Mystica Guest House

Sunday,
  • Breakfast with Wanjira Munyua, IPM Sub-Saharan Advisory Council Member – reflection on the state of women in Kenya
  • Drive to Makueni (a 2 hour drive from Nairobi)
  • Visit Kandula Village Project
  • Picnic lunch in Machakos
  • Presentation by Susan Mutuku, Coordinator, Kandula Village Project
  • Meeting and sharing with project beneficiaries
  • Drive back to Nairobi

Monday,
  • Breakfast with Bill Nyasio, IPM Sub-Saharan Advisory Council Member—reflection on modern history of Kenya
  • Drive to A.I.C.Kajiado Primary, located approximately 50 miles south of Nairobi.
  • Visit - The Bride Rescue Project. This school runs a project to rescue girls from early forced marriage and keep them in school.
  • Presentations and personal testimonies from rescued girls
  • Presentation of the project by Mrs. Priscilla Nangurai, Head Teacher, A.I.C. Kajiado Primary school.
  • Lunch at AIC Kajiado Primary with the girls
  • Meeting with Mrs. Mullel, Coordinator, Nosim Women Organization, Kajiado
  • Spend the afternoon sharing with the girls and local women on ways to improve women's education.
  • Drive back to Nairobi.
  • Dinner & reflection
  • Overnight at Rosa Mystica Guest House

Tuesday,
  • Breakfast & daily orientation at Rosa Mystica Guest House
  • Drive across the Great Rift Valley
  • Drive to Kericho Region, famous for tea production
  • Proceed to Awasi to meet with the Kenyan Franciscan Sisters. One of the Sisters, Sr. Gladys Owuor is helping out with the IPM Project, Unyolo Village Development Project.
  • Afternoon presentation about the projects being run by the Sisters – i.e. farming, clinic and nursery school.
  • Dinner, Reflection & overnight at Awasi

Wednesday,
  • Breakfast & morning reflection at Awasi
  • Drive to Unyolo for site visit with Unyolo Village Improvement Project, IPM Project
  • Project presentation by Francis Okumu (Secretary General UVIP)
  • Lunch & afternoon tour of Unyolo homesteads
  • Reflection and overnight at Unyolo

Wednesday,
  • Spend full day with Unyolo Village
  • Overnight in Unyolo

Thursday,
  • Breakfast & morning reflection in Unyolo
  • Drive to Maasai Mara Game Reserve
  • Evening Game Drive at Maasai Mara

Friday,
  • Breakfast & daily orientation at the Maasai Mara
  • Morning Game Drive
  • Drive back to Nairobi through the Great Rift Valley
  • Dinner at Rosa Mystica Guest House

Saturday,
  • Breakfast & daily orientation at Rosa Mystica Guest House 
  • Drive to Dandora slums, Eastlands Nairobi
  • Visit Deednet, IPM Project, AIDS orphanage with Ms. Rufina Simiyu, IPM Board Member and Minister at the Nairobi Provincial Government
  • Lunch & meeting with Dandora Women’s Forum
  • Dinner at Carnivore Simba Saloon
  • Late evening departure from Nairobi to Cleveland

Sunday,
