Partnership for Family Involvement in Education (PFIE)
PFIE was started in 1994 by Secretary of Education Richard Riley to join together employers,
educators, families, religious groups and community organizations to improve schools and raise
student achievement. The website features a database search engine of all the members of the PFIE,
examples of successful education programs, and links to other relevant sites. [Listed April 1,

Philanthropic Studies Index (PSI)
The PSI is a "reference tool to the literature on voluntarism, nonprofit organizations,
fundraising, and charitable giving." Citations to popular and scholarly periodical articles can be
retrieved by doing a keyword search in the Index. The site is produced by the Joseph and Matthew

Philanthropy News Network
The mission of the Philanthropy News Network is to help people understand, support and work
in the nonprofit world. Their web site offers an excellent alerting service around nonprofit issues
including a daily online news service with links to newspaper articles (topics include education,
foundations, fundraising, giving, technology, volunteers and more), and a free monthly newspaper on
nonprofits and technology. The organization also offers a free twice-weekly electronic newsletter,
though much of the content is commercially focused. The site also provides links to nonprofit jobs.

Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Inc.
Planned Parenthood "believes in the fundamental right of each individual, throughout the
world, to manage his or her fertility, regardless of the individual's income, marital status, race,
ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, national origin, or residence." This organization
advocates reproductive freedom as essential to women's rights. Current health information, research

This section of the SpeakOut.com site provides public policy resources on dozens of
issues including education, technology and healthcare. Policy.com is non-partisan and free to

This has been incorporated into the U.S. Dept. of Health & Human Services & SAMSHSA's

ProPoor
ProPoor's mission is to disseminate information relating to several thousand non-governmental
organizations (NGOs) throughout South Asia. The site allows you to get a list of NGOs in individual
countries in South Asia, as well as to search its database by individual and organizational name or

Public Agenda
Public Agenda (PA) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit public opinion research and citizen
education organization. PA has addressed a wide range of issues through its research and citizen
education work, including school and health care reform, national security, AIDS, crime, economic
competitiveness and the environment. This site is easy to use. The user can search a variety of
"hot" issues and obtain background information to understand an issue, along with detailed public
opinion information. Interviews, surveys, charts, quizzes are just a few ways that the information
