This is an excellent Web site that includes information for health consumers, health
educators, and students. Topics covered include weekly news features, treatment, prevention, social
issues, and statistics. The site also has a section on addiction in specific

Addiction Technology Transfer Center Network
The Addiction Technology Transfer Center (ATTC) Network is a nationwide resource for
addiction-related information funded by the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration's
(SAMHSA), Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT). "ATTC vision is to unify science, education
and services to transform the lives of individuals and families affected by alcohol and other drug
addiction." Resources on this site include: Licensing & Certification Requirements for all U.S.
States; SAMHSA's Substance Abuse Treatment Facility Locator; full text cutting-edge research

ADEC
ADEC, an international consortium of state universities and land grant institutions, provides
high quality and economic distance education programs and services via the latest and most
appropriate information technologies. ADEC also provides links to on-line articles about distance

Administration for Children & Families (ACF)
The ACF, within the Department of Health and Human Services, is responsible for federal
programs that promote the economic and social well-being of families, children, individuals, and
communities. This is an excellent Web site for federal government information. The
Search function allows you to search their website for information on a wide range
of topics such as welfare reform, child abuse and neglect, and runaway and homeless youth.
The
Find an ACF Program Office Website drop-down menu connects you with any of the
divisions of the ACF. The site also includes press releases and fact sheets on current issues.

Administration on Aging (AOA)
This agency is part of the Federal Department of Health & Human Services. This extensive
website features a variety of fact sheets on topics related to the elderly, information on
government initiatives and programs on aging, statistics on older persons, elder abuse prevention
and more. The site also includes a section specifically targeted at professionals with links to GAO
Reports on Aging, website links, and
HHS Poverty
Guidelines. There is also a comprehensive section for Elders & Caregivers. [Listed

Adolescence Directory On-line (ADOL)
ADOL is an electronic guide to information on adolescent issues. It is a service of the Center
for Adolescent and Family Studies at Indiana University. Educators, counselors, parents,
researchers, health practitioners, and teens can use ADOL to find Web resources for topics such as
conflict and violence; mental health issues; health and health risk issues, etc. [Listed April 1,

Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ)
AHRQ is the lead Federal agency on quality of care research. It coordinates all federal
quality improvement efforts and health services research. The site is a useful resource for
locating grant announcements in the health fields, as well as research findings, consumer health

AgingStats.Gov
This is the website for the Federal Interagency Forum on Aging-Related Statistics, which is a
group of U.S. Government agencies cooperating and collaborating their statistics on aging. Includes
the report
Older Americans 2008: Key Indicators of Well-Being
as well as PowerPoint slides of the charts and Excel spreadsheets of the data tables.
This site also includes a subject area contact list, a timeline, and older versions
(2000, 2004, and 2006) of the
Older Americans

Alan Guttmacher Institute (AGI)
AGI is a nonprofit organization focused on reproductive health research, policy analysis and
public education. The site provides policy papers, reports and statistics on topics such as
abortion, sexual behavior, teen pregnancy, contraception, etc. There is also access to the

This site provides comprehensive information on Alzheimer's disease, including basic facts,

American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is a professional medical
organization comprised of child and adolescent psychiatrists trained to promote healthy development
and evaluate, diagnose, and treat children and adolescents and their families who are affected by
disorders of feeling, thinking and behavior. Features of this site include:

. The

at-risk children. The Foundation has funded a number of national initiatives, all of which are

Association for Community Organization & Social Administration (ACOSA)
"ACOSA is a membership organization for community organizers, activists, nonprofit

Journal of Community Practice, and promotes the dissemination of research related to
social administration and community organizing. Resources on the site include reports,
