location and status. Here is an example:

Call numbers are unique identifiers used to locate books within a library. The Lillian F. &
Milford J. Harris Library uses the Library of Congress (LC) classification scheme for its
collection.
A sample LC call number looks like this:
HV37 .S579 1996
Other libraries on the campus of Case Western Reserve University also use the Library of
Congress (LC) classification scheme.
A sample LC call number looks like this:
HV37 .B873
When doing an online catalog search, make sure to write down the complete call number of the
book you want to find on the shelves.
