Professional organizations are good sources of information for not only what is happening in the
professional organization but also in the field in general. Professional organizations often
promote policies and best practices that reflect the professional organizations own goals and
values. The organizations here represent a variety of interest groups for social and human services
workers.

American Counseling Association (Ohio Branch)
The Ohio branch chapter of the American Counseling Association. Activities focus on the
advancement of the discipline of counseling. Offers a discussion list (OCAN) that can be subscribed
to by all counselors. Links back to the national American Counseling Association web site.

Association for Specialists in Group Work (ASGW)
This organization is a division of the American Counseling Association. It provides resources
for teachers, students and practitioners of group work. The site provides information on the

Association of Oncology Social Work
The Association of Oncology Social Work "is dedicated to increasing awareness about the

Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)
The CSWE site includes information about accreditation of undergraduate and graduate social

comprehensive list of master's and baccalaureate social work programs maintained by the Council on
