some comparisons between this agency and others with similar services. The site is well organized

"ICHILD is an internet based, world-wide support group and source of information and
resources for those interested in adoption from India" (www.ichild.org).
"On ICHILD, you will find helpful information including U.S. and Indian agency listings,
information on the process of adopting from India for Indian families, NRI families and non-NRI
families, a waiting child photolisting, ICHILD mailing lists, the ICHILD Families sections, ICHILD
photo album, adoption and India related links and much more" (www.ichild.org).
This site is extremely helpful for individuals or families just beginning their search for
information about Indian International Adoption and those already involved in the adoption process.
The site was developed and is maintained by an adoptive mother of an Indian child adopted
internationally. There are fairly extensive lists of agencies to compare and contrast, as well as
information from other parents and families of internationally adopted children from India.

This site offers information about Indian Adoption Services, which is an agency based in
California that works with different agencies throughout India to place children who need homes.
Although the agency is based out of California, they are connected with agencies in other states
throughout the U.S. The site gives general information about Indian adoption, different services
provided by the agency, qualifications of staff, links to other sites, costs, questions and
answers, and background on the agency.

This site offers information about Indian Law regarding international adoptions and
regulations of the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) and procedures for obtaining visas
for these children to immigrant to the U.S. Information is given about procedures after the child
enters into the U.S., as well. This also includes necessary forms and documents that must be
submitted.

This site does not give very detailed information, but provides general info about government
requirements, time frames, fees, characteristics of children available, links to other sites, and
photos of an orphanage in India. The agency helps guide families through the adoption process,
including paperwork, immigration issues, and info for non-resident Indians.

The Indian government, specifically the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, sponsors
this site. Information on this site includes government regulations of adoption, both domestic and
international, and a list of Indian and foreign adoption agencies licensed by the Indian
government. This is basically an information resource, with little contact information for
prospective international adoptive parents.
