Why I Chose This Profession
My research focus is on the overlap of mental health disorders, substance abuse disorders
especially with people involved in the criminal justice system. I am interested in substance
abusing women who are diagnosed with depression, post-traumatic stress disorder and or generalized
anxiety disorders. I am collaborating with Dr. Amy Blank Wilson on a randomized control
intervention to examine the impact of enhanced reentry services for young adults with severe mental
illness in the criminal justice system. I am active in clinical work with Women's Re-Entry Network
and Citizen Circles and continue to have an interest in the assessment and treatment of substance
related disorders among older adults. I am licensed as an independent social worker in Ohio with
supervisory designation.
