Field Education
Field Education, an integral component of the MSASS
program, enables students to gain valuable experience in the social work profession, preparing them
to function as competent practitioners upon graduation. Field practice opportunities
are used to integrate the core knowledge, skills and values inherent in the profession
utilizing our Ability-Based Learning Environment as the structure for field internships. In some
instances, the field site offers employment opportunities to students upon graduation. In all
instances, the field education experience provides students with multiple opportunities to become
proficient in the world of work. The Field Education Seminar supplements the placement experience
and provides students the opportunity to explore their strengths and preferences through
discussion, and through instruments such as Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and the Learning
Style Inventory. For more information, regarding Field Education, students may contact Field
Education Director
Scott Wilkes at 216.368.2240.
