Support the Mandel School

Ways to Give

Students benefit directly from the support of alumni and friends. The development staff works with donors to assure that the gift process is as efficient as possible and that every gift is directed to the specific purpose requested by the donor. Gifts support scholarships for MSSA and PhD students, specific projects, programs, research, and faculty. All gifts are fully tax-deductible and donors are recognized in  the Mandel School Honor Roll of Donors.

You can make a difference to students at the Mandel School by making a gift, using one or more of the following methods:

Annual Fund

1-webThe Mandel School is one of the only schools in the country to dedicate 100% of its Annual Fund resources to student support.  All gifts to the Annual Fund go directly to student support in the form of school directed scholarships and field placement stipends.  The Annual Fund cycle  is based on the academic year (July 1 through June 30) and all gifts are welcomed and put to immediate use.  Make a gift to the Annual Fund today!

Permanent endowment funds may be established in the name of the donor or to honor an individual.  The minimum amount  necessary to establish an endowed fund is $25,000, and the purpose for the fund is designated by the donor.  Endowment funds are invested by the university and the Mandel School receives a portion of the earnings to apply to the program or area dictated by the donor agreement. The balance of the investment earnings are retained and reinvested in the fund to allow it to grow.

Gifts can also be made at any time to the general endowment of the Mandel School. This fund provides operational support for the school, as well as funds scholarships and special projects.

Named Academic Professorships

A gift of $1,500,000 will establish a permanent endowment to support activities in an area of social work designated by the donor, and is named by the donor.   The professorship is held by a faculty member, appointed by the Dean, who is a leader in the social work field.  For more information about named professorships, please contact Nora Hennessy at 216-368-2311.

Named Scholarship Funds

A gift of $25,000 will establish this permanent endowment.  Recipients are selected based on criteria and awards are decided by a committee of staff and the Dean. Students are awarded scholarships on an annual basis.

It has never been easier to make a contribution to the Mandel School. If you have any questions please contact the development office at 216.368.0113 or email at
