DEVELOPMENT AND ALUMNI AFFAIRS

Support The School

Ways to Give
Students and Faculty at MSASS benefit directly from the support of alumni and friends received through the Annual Fund and gifts for specific projects or programs. The development staff works with donors to assure that the gift process is as efficient as possible and that every gift is directed to the specific purpose requested by the donor.

Annual Fund
Contributions to the Annual Fund are made for an academic year (July 1 through June 30) and are used solely for student scholarships. Gifts of any size are welcomed. All gifts are fully tax-deductible and donors are recognized in  MSASS Action.  Click here to make a gift to the Annual Fund.

Endowments
Gifts may be made at any time to the General Endowment of Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences.  This fund provides operational support for the School as well as funds for scholarships and special projects.  Permanent endowment funds may also be established in the name of the donor or to honor an individual with a gift of $20,000 or more.  The purpose for the fund is designated by the donor.  Endowment funds are invested by the University.  The School receives annually about 5% of its endowment market value to spend on operations or specified by donors.  The balance of the investment earnings are retained and reinvested in the fund to allow it to grow.

Named Academic Professorships
Current Listing
A gift of $1,500,000 will establish a permanent endowment to support activities in an area of social work designated by the donor and is named in honor of the donor.   The professorship is held by a faculty member, appointed by the Dean, who is a leader in the social work field.   Funds are invested by the University for the benefit of MSASS and income from the fund is used to provide support for the professorship.   For more information, contact Anne Marie Cronin at 216-368-2311.

Named Scholarship Funds
Current Listing
Donors may endow a fund in their own name or to honor an individual and may designate the area of scholarship of the student recipient.  A gift of $20,000 will establish this permanent endowment.  Students are awarded scholarships on an annual basis. Recipients are selected based on criteria and awards are decided by a committee of staff and the Dean.
