Hi my name is Candice Stewart-Miele. I am a nontraditional student here at MSASS. I was a little
concerned about ageism and trying to blend with the traditional students in the graduate program,
but it has been absolutely the most positive experience of my life. I made a career change and my
concentration is in mental health and aging.
The practicum experiences at MSASS are really phenomenal. They have far exceeded what I ever
thought or dreamed. The choices are really vast. I have been placed in hospital in-patient unit and
in community services case management position with the elderly. I am also concurrently doing the
gerontology certificate.
I was able to fully utilize all of the programs that are here. The support is unbelievable, not
only faculty but even down to the administrative staff. I've come up with problems that I didn't
think they could solve. I'd just kind of bop into the front office, they would greet me by name
with a big smile "Oh, Yeah we can handle that, no problem Candy, it's fine!"
I live in a suburb of Cleveland so to have one of the top social work schools in the country
here was unbelievably good luck. MSASS, is a name that really opens doors for you and it lives up
to its name.
