I'm Charniece Holmes. I work at Friendly Inn Settlement House and I'm a case manager.
I taught GED classes for about ten years before I decided to go into the social work field. I
thought that I was spending so much time social working my students. They weren't coming to class
and I was crawling out of windows rescuing women that were being abused and battered. I just
decided that I wasn't being fulfilled as a teacher and I needed to make a career change. So, I
looked at a couple programs. I made a decision that I wanted to become a social worker and the
thing that appealed to me was that Case had the intensive program.
I'm also a wife, a mother and I needed a balance in my life and the intensive program provided
me with that opportunity. It's been a wonderful experience.
It's been a big adjustment, but I've enjoyed it immensely. The classmates and some of the
contacts that I've made, I've really benefited from and I've enjoyed it a great deal.
