Sue Ladell Coleson - Testimonial

I'm Sue Ladell Coleson and I'm an EDP student, which is an extended degree. I've just started last semester and I'm really excited to be here. I finally feel at home.

I'm a nontraditional student and that means I'm a little older than twenty-five. I was married a very long time and had some kids and tried some different things in the job market. Finally, I decided that I wanted to get a Masters degree in something that mattered.

I did my undergrad here at Case Western Reserve in American studies and I was interested in womens' issues. When it came time to thinking about what Masters made a difference to me, the only viable field I could think of was social work because it fits my set of values. I'm interested in working in the field of aging and I'm really excited about that because it fits me and it fits a lot of my skills.

I feel comfortable here at MSASS. There's a diverse student population of young students, middle-aged students, and older students and it's a good place for me to be. This is a home for me. The faculty is very friendly and open to new ideas and suggestions for any questions that I might have to bring up. I love to ask questions.

Basically I'm here to begin a new career in social work. I still have a good twenty-five years to work and I'm excited about the things I'm learning here, the way I'm learning and the way the faculty has worked with me. It's just a great place to be.
